The course is perfect for anyone interested in or recently owning their own hives or anyone wanting to learn about beekeeping. 

The session will cover all the most important aspects of beekeeping. Starting with an introduction to the bee keeping equipment and the different parts of a beehive to the different stages of the beekeeping calendar, before getting suited up and visiting the bees onsite. 

What will I be learning?

• Learning about the clothing and equipment required to safely manage a hive 

• Learning about the different parts of a beehive.

• Find out the different roles played by bees within the hive and what they get up to 

• Understanding the beekeeping calendar and what care you need to provide at the different times of the year.

• Have the opportunity to get bee-suited and booted, and get hands-on in the beehive. Feel free to take photos!

• Talk about pollinator friendly plants, not forgetting a herb garden as well.

• Have the opportunity to ask our beekeepers any questions you may have and find out how you can take the next step to owning your own hive. 

• Ask our friendly beekeepers about what support they can get from their local beekeeping groups and where to find out more information.

• Suitable for children age 12+ 

• All under 18s must be accompanied by an Adult 

• Sessions are 2 hours long

• Please wear wellington boots and tie back long hair.
